We waved goodbye to summer in traditional Swedish style, in a 17th-century fortress on Stockskärsholmen island

Kräftskivor or crayfish parties take place in Sweden every August to celebrate the start of crayfish season. In keeping with this age-old custom, Soho House Stockholm held its own special dinner in the former Dalarö fortress.

Guests arrived by boat to a private dining space with views of the surrounding archipelago. After enjoying some welcome drinks and exploring the quiet island, they sat down to a  family-style dinner of crayfish sourced from the local lake, Hjälmaren. Accompaniments came in the form of Västerbotten Pie (a Swedish cheese pie), baguettes with aioli, and green salad. Between bites, everyone sipped on Swedish beer Norrlands Guld Ljus, traditional schnapps Hallands Fläder Aquavit, and white wine.
As dinner came to an end, the party revved up with a set by Swedish House DJ and music producer Axel Boman. The crowd was then transported back to Soho House Stockholm for an afterparty in the converted church. With Picantes in hand, guests danced to a second set by Boman until the early hours.
