To mark the announcement of our first House in Scotland, we hosted a celebratory evening in partnership with The Dalmore

The secret’s out: Soho House Glasgow is opening. To mark the occasion, we hosted an evening in the Scottish city with some of our Cities Without Houses members, surprising them with the news of the upcoming House.

We invited 100 people to attend a three-course dinner created by Soho House’s Executive Chef, Nathaniel Tofan, and Senior Sous Chef, Olivia Jamieson. Guests included Kaye Adams, Gerard Butler, Julie Lin, Aiden Halliday, Anna Freemantle-Zee, Gordon Smart, Jamie Genevieve, Kayus Banks, Richard Rankin, Sanjeev Kohli and Martin Compston, to name a few.

Hosted in an industrial area in the centre of Glasgow, the evening took place on the rooftop of The Schoolhouse – a Victorian building that’s now used for creative businesses like Channel 4. The theme for the night was inspired by the artwork on the exterior of the site – an illuminated red neon sign made of lead-free glass, which says ‘IT IS GREEN THINKS NATURE EVEN IN THE DARK’, created by New York artist Mary Ellen Carroll. So, we transformed the space into a green oasis. Guests dined in a greenhouse filled with tropical plants, hanging ferns and vines above the table, palm and banana plants, and were provided with sustainable paper menus. Complementing the aesthetic were reclaimed ceramic bottles, vases and tealights.

On arrival, everyone was welcomed with Scottish single malt whisky cocktails by The Dalmore. They could choose from a traditional Old Fashioned with The Dalmore as the base whisky, or The Big Yin, an ode to the Glaswegian actor and comic, Billy Connolly. For dinner, the menu was based around Scottish classics, including Orkney Crab, Angus Beef, Pearl Barley Risotto with Scottish girolles, and Loch Duart Salmon. Plus, dessert options of Raspberries with creme fraiche and brown butter oats or a Scottish cheese selection.

As the night wound down, the crowd discussed the opening of the new club with our Cities Without Houses membership team and enjoyed a few more drinks, Picantes included.

Our first-ever Soho House in Scotland will be located just off George Square in the former Parish Council Chambers. While you wait for the opening, you can become a Cities Without Houses member or register your interest in membership for Soho House Glasgow here.
